Search Engine Optimisation - Blogs and Blogging

Blogging is simply one of the methods of regularly communicating with your clients. One of the clever parts that makes blogging so popular is that your clients are invited to contribute to discussion threads that you can host (and moderate) on your website. This activity is in itself good news for google returns, but it can have other beneficial effects.

If your blogs are relevant to your area of expertise, your clients will find them interesting, and may recommend them to their own network. A simple registration process within your site is therefore very important so that everyone can contribute, and your own distribution list grows as a result.

Good blogs will also encourage people to visit other areas of your site, and can be used to draw people's attention to popular sites (e.g. youtube, bbc) where there is a very high level of traffic which in turn can benefit your rankings. To achieve this, simply include a link to the article or video that illustrates your article - but remember to check that these articles and videos don't disappear in time as a bad link is very frustrating for your audience.

Finally, blogging regularly makes a huge difference to your audience and their interest in your news. Some clients manage this daily, others less often - only you can gauge your marketplace and your own workload. However often you decide to create a new blog, a regular posting pattern is something that you should include in your own Search Engine Optimisation strategy.
